Dr. Tonya Hensley, DNP, FNP-BC, PMHNP-C, is a dual-certified family and psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner with more than 26 years of nursing experience, including 18 years as a family nurse practitioner.
Tonya earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice from East Tennessee State University and completed her post-graduate psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner education at Duke University. Her extensive background in family medicine allows her to consider both physical and emotional health when helping patients understand their symptoms and develop a treatment plan.
She believes effective care begins with listening. Her approach is compassionate, collaborative, and grounded in the understanding that mental and physical health are deeply connected. She works alongside each patient to create an individualized plan that reflects the person’s needs, goals, values, and life circumstances.
A longtime advocate for improving healthcare access in rural communities, Tonya has spent much of her career developing innovative ways to bring care closer to the people who need it. She and Meredith Greene worked together from 2017 to 2025, sharing a commitment to compassionate care and making sure patients feel heard, understood, and empowered. They are excited to be practicing together again and bringing that shared approach to their patients.
